Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that causes inflammation, the formation of tubercles and other growths within tissue, and can cause tissue death. The current guidelines for diagnosis of chest tuberculosis (TB) are based primarily on the demonstration of acid-fast bacilli (AFB) on sputum microscopy.

The branch deals majorly with diseases of airways, lungs and pleura. It also deals with Sleep Disordered Breathing, Allergy and Immunotherapy, Rehabilitation of patients with respiratory diseases. Department has other synonyms like chest medicine and respiratory medicine. The team involves highly qualified medical doctors with passion towards providing the best comprehensive care to the patients with a holistic approach

The team provides all round clock services to the patients by teaming up with oncologists, cardiologists, internal medicine specialists, interventional radiologists and thoracic surgeons. Areas of expertise: Allergy and Asthma, COPD related lung diseases, Pneumonias [lung infections], ILD [interstitial lung diseases], Pulmonary hypertension, Sleep disordered breathing, Pulmonary emergencies [respiratory failure and ARDS, tension pneumothorax, pulmonoary embolism, foreign body obstruction and other central airway obstructions.

He is a member of the Indian Chest Society, European Respiratory Society and is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians as well & has an overall experience of 28 years

Dr. Salil Bendre’s practice is dedicated to providing excellent and compassionate care to patients with Lung diseases and breathing difficulties. He has been serving patients with pulmonary problems since 1998. Dr Salil Bendre  is also treating  and managing  HIV/AIDS patients  since 2001. He has treated several HIV patients  with  antiretro viral and immunomodulator therapy.He has been part of International Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy Workshops at Singapore and France.
